Here are some ideas to maximize storage space when remodeling apartments such as condos and co-ops.

Kitchen:

Open shelving in kitchens or glass cabinet fronts create an illusion of a larger space.
Toe kick heaters to eliminate baseboard heat.
Peninsula or movable island if there is no room for a permanent island

Bathrooms:

Shower/tub comb?  Remove the tub, make it aging-in-place design
Install and extra-large modern medicine cabinet some are LED illuminated.
Replace pedestal sinks with “floating: wall hung vanity with drawers

Closets:

Better closet organization – part shelving, part hanging with double and single poles

Other ideas:

Sliding barn doors have a smaller footprint and won’t intrude on smaller rooms.
